Drop Table
The use of a Drop Table is a specific chiropractic method and is a variation of the Diversified technique that uses a special table with several segments called drop pieces. These segments can be cocked
up a fraction of an inch, so when the thrust is delivered, the table will drop this fraction of an inch. The drop pieces assist the thrust while minimizing the force used for the manipulation/ adjustment. Cavitation (“popping”) of the joint may or may not occur. Many of our patients especially prefer this method for adjusting the low back and pelvic regions.
At the Bridger Chiropractic Clinic two of our drop tables are also Leander Tables which provide a gentle, continual flexing motion when the patient is lying on their stomach. This introduces motion into the joints of the spine and pelvis, hip joints, and even shoulder joints. According to researchers from the University of California, this increases the "Slide in the Glide" of the vertebrae for patients. Not only is this relaxing, but it helps to increase synovial fluid which acts as a lubricant within the joints.
Dr. Purser and Dr. Jones have also found that this motion, when combined with electric muscle stimulation, is very effective in retraining the muscles and ligaments to move more smoothly and with less pain.
