Activator
An Activator is a hand-held, spring-loaded instrument-based manipulation/adjustment tool. Instead of the manipulating/adjusting forces being delivered by hand, force is generated with the small appliance that
delivers a lighter, but quicker, thrust than can be delivered by hand. The activator instrument controls the force and speed of the adjustment exceptionally well and with the activator, the line of drive can be more specific.
The Activator can be used as a primary treatment protocol, for any patient where
manual manipulation/adjustment may be contraindicated, such as with both the elderly and infants or someone with osteoporosis (loss of bone density), or certain types of arthritis. The doctors have also found this to be very helpful for adjusting such areas as the wrists, feet, the TMJ and anterior ribs.
Some patients simply prefer this method because they know it is effective and are not comfortable with traditional adjustment methods.
