Applied Kinesiology (AK)
Simply put, applied kinesiology (AK) is a form of diagnosis using muscle testing as a primary feedback mechanism to examine how a person’s body is functioning. It was developed in the 1960’s when Dr. Goodheart observed that a weak muscle could be treated and the strength immediately improved. He also discovered factors that could negatively affect the strength and functioning of a muscle. It was based on these discoveries that Dr. Goodheart developed a technique that has helped practitioners evaluate and apply therapies that will be most helpful to their patients.
The therapies utilized with AK can include specific joint manipulation, various myofascial therapies, and the use of the Erchonia cold laser in specific ways, plus with clinical nutrition and supplementation. The doctors at the Bridger Chiropractic Clinic do not use this method of diagnosis instead of taking a complete history and doing a physical examination that includes orthopedic and neurological tests. They use AK only after these have been done and as part of a treatment protocol.
